Africatown Diaspora Festival

Under the theme “One People, One Cause, One Destiny,” the Inaugural African Diaspora Festival on Woodland Avenue welcomed approximately 15,000 participants in collaboration with PHL250 as part of the Philadelphia 2026 Neighborhood Celebration.

Global Representation: Over 25 African and Caribbean organizations joined, alongside diplomatic support from the Ambassadors of Tanzania and Liberia.

Culture & Food: Live music, dance performances, international cuisine, vendors, and a dedicated Children’s Corner.

Economic Growth: Local small businesses and creative entrepreneurs along Woodland Avenue received a massive economic boost.

Statewide Recognition: City and state leadership strongly voiced their commitment to Africatown’s growth during the celebration. “We celebrated the inaugural Africatown Diaspora Festival and the people, cultures, and traditions that continue to shape Philadelphia every single day… As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we are also celebrating the people building Philadelphia’s next 250 years.” Cherelle Parker, Mayor of Philadelphia.
